Jewel Kiltcher is a successful women who pursues, singing, songwriting, guitarist, producer, actress, and anuthor/poet. She has gone as far as recieving four Grammy Award Nominations. "A Night Without Armour," was published in 1998, and expressively explores, heartbreak, insecurtity, and the mind of a women.

Throw yourself
into the traffic of
his desire
       unpredictable
      red sports car
no helmet in hand
your heart a potential
red smear
in the hindsight of
his rear view mirror

Jewel is using the dangers driving in traffic, as a metaphor to the potential heartbreak of commiting yourself and your emotions to someone. She's suggesting that there's no safety guide to love, "throwing yourself into the traffic of his desire," is risky.  Love is a strong force, with, "no helmet in hand," your heart becomes fully exposed.

I enjoy reading her thought out metaphor for love. The imagery of picturing yourself in traffic, in the red sports car, is enticing.

The Right to Vote

06_2_1.jpg (660×440)

Should Canada's voting age be lowered to sixteen?

No, I personally don't agree with the thought of a sixteen year old being able to vote. The process of changing the law to sixteen year olds being able to vote would become too complicated. Although, at the age of sixteen, maintaining a job and a lincence is not an uncommon task, under the age of eighteen, teenagers are stiill unable to sign the majority of their own forms and documents without a parent/gaurdian signature included. So why should you be able to carry out a vote in an election?  I do feel as if the science behind teenage brains has a large influence on why you have to wait until you're eighteen to vote. The majority of female brains mature around the age of eighteen, while male brains usually mature between eighteen and twenety one. It would not make sense to allow sixteen year olds vote, especially considering that males are a potiental five years away from reaching maturity. I believe a great amount of sixteen year olds could take voting seriously, but there would be a lot of knowlege missing in a bunch of votes.

Your Adaptable Mind

The educational video, "The Adaptable Mind," introduces five traits that are commonly known as, "the human ecconmy." These five qualities above, are essential to obtain in our society. I believe I have developed all of these traits to a certain extent, but I need to work on using them more effectively. For example, I am extremely creative when I'm improving at dance class, but when it comes to my creativity for writing or basically anything else, I'm lacking comfort, and confidence. I believe out of the 5 traits, my strongest is curioisity. I'm always asking questions to myself. I love having knowledge, and understanding of concepts, and my curoistity helps me obtain it. How I'm going to contunie my personal growth to have a strong balance of all of these qualities, is my time and effort. Over time I'll have great practice at applying these human skills to my life, as long as I keep up a strong effort. I hope to one day have a strong set of all of the traits above.
