Stephen Glass
Stephen Glass, a New York Times envied journalist was caught misleading almost his entire background of published stories. He went as far as recording fake messages, and creating social media for people who
don´t exist, for sources.
I believe when a journalist lies, the consquences all depend of the severity of the lies. In the case of Stehpen Glass, he explicitly lied in his articles, and there was rare incounters of his stories that didn´t have a lie occuring in it. If a journalist, had only lied once or twice, depending on the case and popularity of the newspaper, they should receive a warning, or a write up at their work. In relation to Stephen Glass, someone who was repeatedly lied, and made up entire stories, in a perstigious newspaper like the New York Times, should be fired, and recieve fines. If fined, the money should go towards the newspaper company, as they were entirely manipluated, and now have to suffer from a negative reputation.
Prison does not seem neccesary, I believe therapy is, they could have a serious disorder. I think they are suffering enough, their entire career in journalism is ruined by this point, going to prison is a stretch, but that also depends on the accusations of the stories.
They should be aloud to profit from the books and movies, surrounding him. Its his right, and if people believe that its unfair for him to recieve this money then they should protest by not buying the movie or book.
